Charleston Bus Annex
Butler Building by Stuart BergerStuart Berger
If you were to look for a prototype of the ideal way to utilize Butler's hybrid construction, this design/build project would be it.
The facility is a one-stop operation for New York City busses, which means it is in use 24/7/365. Knowing the traffic it's bound to receive, we went with an open floor plan design that would allow for future tweaks and changes as the customers' needs change in the future.
As the Designer of Record for the building structure, we encountered multiple issues during the design lifecycle, but worked closely to solve each one. Meeting customer expectations for design is important to us, which is why we attended more than 50 design meetings with the client to ensure our design dovetailed with other disciplines.
