Vaughn College
Commercial Construction by Stuart BergerStuart Berger
Fulfilling a Vision at Vaughn College
As Vaughn College’s population grew, the former cafeteria was inadequate. Vaughn had long sought to replace the space with a new expansive one, but now the need was urgent with the presence of new resident students in conjunction with a larger overall population of students, faculty and staff required a larger – and more welcoming – food facility. The Vaughn and Graf & Lewent teams worked closely and quickly to develop a design for the new
space.
The final design called for Stuart Berger to perform a complete renovation of the existing space, plus a 1,400-square-foot addition to create a 5,000-squarefoot facility. The kitchen was a giant leap from the 350-square-foot facility in the basement, and featured all-new state-of-the-art food preparation equipment and walk-in refrigerator/freezer storage. The addition to the building was designed as a pre-engineered “Butler Building.”
The construction was substantially completed in June 2020.
